Pool Pavilion
Repurposing a mid-19th century barn as a pool pavilion took a combination of salvaging, restoring, re-engineering and new technology. We could see the original roof sheathing had come from the same log that had a sweeping curve to it and was cut by an “up and down” sawmill vs. a “circular” sawmill . Re-using the sheathing boards meant each piece had to be labeled, carefully removed from the rafters and stored, before being reinstalled, fitting like hand ‘n glove. The supporting timber posts were anchored to the ground with TimberLinx connectors (timberlinx.com) over the new bluestone patio, thereby preserving the post & beam look with the added strength of steel. All in all, giving new life to an old barn.
