Mason founded HVP in 1991 with a vision of integrating assessment, design and building knowledge while maintaining close client relations and communication. After obtaining a degree from Duke University, he apprenticed as a restoration craftsman with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. His passion for quality construction and historic preservation has been critical for HVP’s award winning recognition along with his combined knowledge of architecture, engineering, traditional trades and history gained from nearly 40 years of experience with old and new buildings. Mason brings a unique approach to every project by acquiring a thorough understanding of the existing conditions of a structure and can visualize the future potential embodied within.
Partner, Design to Production Coordinator, & Value Engineering Guru
Dave came to HVP in 1996 as a high-energy, detail-oriented craftsman and a creative problem-solver. He graduated from college with a degree in Geology but found his passion was in building. He is a skilled project manager and is particularly good at figuring out the best way to build a design – using the right materials and techniques for the job. He has the unique ability to juggle inevitable changing variables to keep the project rolling along smoothly. He skillfully balances the needs of client, design team, contractors, and construction crew and he is HVP’s secret weapon in completing building projects on time, while managing financial expectations for all parties – especially the homeowner.
Operations & Finance Manager, Carpenter & Influencer
A 1992 graduate of Georgian College of Applied Arts & Technology majoring in Business Marketing, Nancy grew up in Canada and worked in marketing, accounting, and public relations before moving to the U.S. Joining HVP in 2018, Nancy started part time as an office assistant before expanding her role to full time. She has added carpenter to the many hats she currently wears. She brings creative attention to project details and a cheerful attitude to the job site and in the office. She is helping change stereotypes of who a carpenter is, as well as bridging the gap between the office and the field.
Project Manager & Carpenter
Brian is an experienced project manager who joined the team in 2023. Before moving to Connecticut, Brian managed large-scale commercial construction and worked on everything from 100+ family luxury apartments to renovations of New York skyscrapers. Brian brings his formal training in construction management (SUNY Delhi, 2015) with lifelong, hands-on experience in the trades. Growing up, Brian worked side by side with his father and uncles on projects that taught him the trades from demo to finish. Brian lives in New Milford with his wife and son and enjoys the quietness of mountain living almost as much as he enjoys planning a project.

Carpenter & Exceptional chef who inspires our palate
Ryan grew up in the Hudson Valley, and began working as a carpenter in his family’s business. Growing up “hammer-in-hand,” so to speak, he developed a well-rounded knowledge of both new and remodel construction. He joined HVP in the Fall of 2021, and relishes the opportunity to add a deeper knowledge of building science and best practices to his already formidable skill. Residing in the area now with his girlfriend, son, and their cat Roosevelt, he enjoys hiking, gardening, and trying his hand in all things culinary in his spare time.
Carpenter, Creative Linguist, and Music man
After starting his career as a struggling musician/waiter, Rob has been in construction since 2000 when he joined a company in California building straw bale homes, working as a laborer. Since then, he has worked as a carpenter in many different areas of specialty – running kitchen remodels in Oregon, framing banks, and most recently installing cabinets and trim in new construction in New York. Although much of his experience is in “traditional” construction, he brings passion and interest to building science concepts. He is a proud dad, engaged to his sweetheart of 35 years, and spends his free time with his family, writing/recording music, and playing multiple musical instruments.
Carpenter, Designer, and Computer Aficionado

In his free time, Dom enjoys gaming, creating 3D objects, tinkering with electronics and spending time with family.
