The Art of Building

An artist’s strong aesthetic resulted in an original building to store and show his personal art, his parents’ and close friends’. Connecting art and life, we attached the studio to the existing home with a connector hall and to the outdoors with a Zen-style garden. Wood grain texture finishes the exterior concrete wall.

Reflecting the variety of showcased art, HVP used finish mediums ranging from wood trim and floors to plaster walls, concrete countertops, and glass and stainless-steel shelving. But it’s not just a pretty face. Underlying the organic aesthetics is a state-of-the-art climate control system designed to keep people comfortable while protecting the artwork with precise temperature and humidity levels. The focus is on the art: not only on the walls, but behind them as well.

“Working with HVP was a pleasure since they stayed true to my ideas while adding their own, so it was a real collaboration. Their architectural knowledge and excellent construction work – with my input always welcome – produced a result better than my expectation.”
